TRANSPORT FROM/TO THE AIRPORT

Catania city is easily accessible thanks to its international airport “Vincenzo Bellini – Fontanarossa”. It is the fifth Italian airport and the first in Southern Italy with its 10,000,000 passengers per year. It is the first in Italy for national traffic. It involves 77 airlines, including destinations in over 30 countries.

Other airports closer to Catania include Palermo "Falcone e Borsellino" (240 km from Catania), Comiso "Pio La Torre" (90 km), and Reggio Calabria "Tito Minniti" (124 km including the crossing of the Messina Strait). However, as there isn't a high-speed railway connection, when possible, we recommend landing in Catania to avoid lengthy train and bus journeys.

How to get around in Catania?

  • Bus Transfer (airport - city center, 39-50 min. depending on traffic)
Bus line « Alibus – AMT » from the Airport to the “Central Station” Bus stop
You can check the schedules here.

and then take another line from the Central station to your final destination.
You can find all the lines here.

The ticket price for the ALIBUS line is €4 and is also valid on all other AMT urban lines for a total of 90 minutes. To travel on all other routes in the city, the cost of a ticket valid for 90 minutes is €1, a daily ticket is €2.50.
They can be purchased on the bus in cash, via vending machines on site in cash or with payment cards or through the AMT Catania APP.

  • Train (airport - city center, 6-24 min. depending on time)

The city and the airport of Catania are also connected by a railway line. The ticket for a single ride costs €2.20 and can be purchased online or here.

Remember, Catania's central station is just 450 meters away from the congress center "Le Ciminiere".

  • Taxi (airport - city center, 15-20 min. depending on traffic)
From Catania Airport to the city center for one person is €22 only taking a taxi at the 1st floor of the airport (Departures) or calling the official Radio taxi number

Other taxi lines can have a rate of about €30.

Several hotels offer their own transfer service which costs about €30-45.
