The 36th ECS Conference will be held in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island, Azores, from May 12 to 16, 2025.
All the conference venues will be located around the city, within walking distance of each other.

Teatro Micaelense - Main venue

Inaugurated in 1951, and restored in 2004, Teatro Micaelense stands as an emblematic location for cultural events in Ponta Delgada. This venue has hosted a wide range of events, from professional conferences to cultural and social events, both on a national and international scale.
In the city centre, the theatre is conveniently located within walking distance of most accommodation and restaurant facilities in Ponta Delgada.
For the 36th ECS Conference, all plenary sessions will take place in the main auditorium, which accommodates up to 745 attendees.
Portas do Mar Pavilion - Poster venue

The poster sessions for the 36th ECS Conference will be held at the Portas do Mar Pavilion. This venue is situated between the old and new marinas, being an expansive space that offers a versatile 2,400 m² area. Originally designed for exhibitions and cultural events, the pavilion’s open layout will be customized to accommodate the poster sessions.
Beyond its functionality, the Portas do Mar Pavilion is surrounded by a scenic seafront view featuring gardens, a variety of restaurants, and tourist attractions. The pavilion is just a short 10-minute walk from our main venue, Teatro Micaelense, ensuring easy access for all attendees.
Social Events
Are you ready to enjoy the conference and discover the Azores? As every year, during the 36th ECS Conference, several social events will be held to ensure excellent opportunities to meet all the participants, and at the same time, to bring you closer to the Azorean essence and lead you to discover the natural and cultural heritage of this precious Arquipélago in the heart of the Atlantic.
